Job summary

Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Trainee Orthopaedic Technician (Band 3) for a part-time role based in the Plaster Room of the fracture clinic at GRH. The post includes planned induction, infection control training and a funded BOA Casting Course.

Responsibilities include assisting with casts, measuring and issuing walking devices, and supporting the trauma and orthopaedic team under supervision. Closing date 28 September 2026.

Qualifications

• A-Levels or equivalent qualification.
• Evidence of continued professional development/training.
• Able to prioritise and manage own and others' activities and tasks.
• Enthusiastic, motivated and positive in approach to work.
• Experience in hospital or care assistance desirable.
• Able to make safe and effective decisions relating to cast problems.

Responsibilities

• Undertake all duties prior to commencing the BOA Casting Course.
• Contribute to improving patient experience and outcomes.
• Provide compassionate care within designated area of responsibility.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with Data Protection Act requirements.
• Promote equality and diversity in line with Trust policies.
• Adhere to infection control policies and PPE usage.
