Job summary

Wales & West Utilities Limited is seeking a First Line Manager to lead teams delivering safe, reliable gas services across our network. Reporting to the Performance Manager, you will motivate staff and ensure cost-effective delivery of replacement, maintenance and development work.

You’ll supervise between 15 and 25 workers, guide operations, and drive performance improvements with a focus on safety and value for money.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership skills to energise teams and drive performance.
• Willingness to work on a standby rota for 24/7 gas emergency service.
• Knowledge of Wales & West Utilities policies, procedures and operations.
• Experience in a technical network role with understanding of gas transportation activities.
• Full driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Lead and inspire direct labour and contractor teams.
• Maintain an excellent safety record.
• Manage a budget of circa £3 million.
• Supervise 15–25 industrial staff (Contract and/or Direct Labour).
• Ensure work complies with prescribed standards and policies.
• Prepare reports and support operational teams on performance.
• Conduct qualitative and quantitative inspections on network work to maintain value for money.
