Job summary

Norfolk County Council’s Educational Psychology and Specialist Support service invites applications for an Assistant Educational Psychologist. The post is a 37-hour week fixed-term contract until August 2028, based at County Hall, Norwich, on the Soulbury AEP scale.

The role forms part of a 20-month development programme with supervision, CPD, and progression toward Trainee/Qualified Educational Psychology, including opportunities across statutory assessment, prevention and development projects.

Qualifications

• Hold a BPS-accredited Psychology degree.
• Demonstrate commitment to pursuing a career in Educational Psychology.
• Show strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Demonstrate capacity for self-reflection and lifelong learning.
• Interest in psychological thinking, systems-level practice and inclusion.
• Ability to work collaboratively and use supervision effectively.

Responsibilities

• Support EHC Needs Assessments and statutory processes.
• Contribute to prevention and early intervention work.
• Assist with research, quality assurance and service development tasks.
• Engage in supervision and participate in CPD activities.
• Assist with preparation for training and information gathering.
