Job summary

Academics is recruiting for an Aspiring Child Psychologist / Learning Support Assistant in Woking, Surrey. The role supports children with Special Needs (ASD, SEMH) and works within a therapy-minded team alongside Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists, gaining practical experience for a future career in child psychology.

You will work 5 days a week on-site, supporting autistic and other SEN pupils and developing social, academic and pastoral skills.

Qualifications

• Willing to work 1:1 and in small groups with students.
• Able to plan learning activities to suit pupil ability with support from a teacher.
• Able to encourage the development of social skills and support students' individual needs.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Able to provide academic and pastoral support.
• Experience working with young people with special needs is desirable but not essential.
• Able to commute to Woking.

Responsibilities

• Support children with SEN on a 1:1 and small group basis.
• Collaborate with therapists and teaching staff to support learning and development.
