Job summary

Academics is seeking an Aspiring Child Psychologist/Learning Support Assistant to support children with SEN (e.g., ASD, SEMH) at a Reigate school. You will work 1:1 and in small groups, helping plan activities and develop social skills under teacher guidance.

This role offers a strong pathway for aspiring clinicians with supportive on-site training and CPD. You must have the right to work in the UK; Enhanced DBS checks may be required.

Qualifications

• Must be able to work 1:1 and in small groups with students.
• Able to plan learning activities to suit pupil ability with support from a teacher.
• Able to encourage the development of social skills and support students' individual needs.
• Experience working with young people with special needs is desirable but not essential.

Reigate - Aspiring Child Psychologist - Psychology - Learning Support Assistant - Special Needs

Are you motivated by supporting and helping others? Are you an Aspiring Child Psychologist?

We are looking for a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to support children with Special Needs, such as ASD, SEMH and associated challenging behaviours. You will be joining a friendly, energetic and creative team!

The School:

This school is located in Reigate and caters for children aged 3-11 with SEN needs. Children may have additional sensory impairments and additonal needs.

The school has a Therapy Department which is staffed by qualified Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists. Therapists are based around the school and have a clinic room for individual work. Much therapy follows a 'blended' model of therapeutic intervention which is delivered across the curriculum, and there is close liaison with teaching staff and parents.

As a Learning Support Assistant/Aspiring Child Psychologist, you will have the opportunity to 'get your foot in the door' and work closely with the therapists, enabling you to expand your knowledge, skillset, and gain relevant practical experience, which is invaluable for you, as an aspiring child psychologist. Also an ideal opportunity for aspiring Occupational Therapists, Clinical Psychologists and Speech and Language Therapists

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Able to provide academic and pastoral support
• Experience working with young people with special needs is desirable but not essential
• Able to commute to Reigate

5 days a week (Mon-Fri), Reigate & 93- 105 per day - dependant on skills and experience
Excellent on-site training, support and CPD is provided to ensure safeguarding of students

Candidates registering with Academics will need to have or apply for an Enhanced DBS and/or overseas police check where appropriate.

Salary will be determined by the successful candidate's qualifications and relevant experience, and will be in accordance with the client's pay policy.
