Academics in Woking is seeking an Aspiring Child Psychologist-ready Learning Support Assistant to support children with Special Needs (ASD, SEMH) in a vibrant school environment. The role involves 1:1 and small-group work, planning engaging activities with teachers, encouraging social development, and close collaboration with qualified therapists.

A passion for helping children achieve their potential and a willingness to obtain an Enhanced DBS is essential.

Qualifications

• Willing to work 1:1 and in small groups with students.
• Able to plan learning activities to suit pupil ability with support from a teacher.
• Able to encourage the development of social skills and support students' individual needs.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Caring, compassionate, and a good listener.
• Must have right to work in the UK; DBS check required.
• Experience with young people with special needs desirable but not essential.
• Able to commute to Woking.

Responsibilities

• Support 1:1 and small group learning activities.
• Assist therapists and teachers in planning lessons.
• Help develop social skills and behaviour support strategies.
• Provide academic and pastoral support to students.
• Ensure safeguarding policies are followed and DBS requirements met.
