Job summary

Breedon Group plc is seeking an Asphalt Plant Operative at Shierglas Quarry, Pitlochry. In this hands-on role, you will support the safe and efficient production of asphalt, operating plant equipment and ensuring materials are produced to required quality standards.

You will work as part of a team, following strict health, safety and environmental procedures at all times, while maintaining equipment and recording production data for traceability and improvement.

Qualifications

• Reliable, detail-oriented and able to work independently or as part of a team.
• Willingness to learn.
• Desirable: experience operating asphalt batching plants in quarry or heavy industrial environments.
• Desirable: understanding of asphalt mix designs and quality control standards.
• Desirable: experience using computerised batching control systems and interpreting production specifications.
• Desirable: basic mechanical knowledge with fault-finding skills.
• Desirable: knowledge of health, safety and environmental requirements in quarry/construction.

Responsibilities

• Operate and control mobile asphalt batching plants in line with production schedules.
• Accurately batch materials to meet approved asphalt mix design specifications.
• Monitor plant performance, temperatures, moisture content and production output to ensure consistent product quality.
• Carry out routine plant inspections and basic preventative maintenance checks.
• Adjust plant settings to maintain product quality, consistency and operational efficiency.
• Record production data, stock levels, delivery documentation and quality control results accurately.
• Coordinate with weighbridge, drivers and site supervisors to ensure efficient operations.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality standards at all times.
• Identify and report plant faults, breakdown risks or material issues promptly.
• Maintain high housekeeping standards across the asphalt plant and stockpile areas.
