All Souls Serve the City (ASSTC) seeks a Shelter Relief Coordinator for the ASLAN Faith and Volunteer Network Night Shelter. You will coordinate shelter operations, supervise volunteers, and ensure a safe, respectful environment for guests and staff across Westminster, Camden and other sites.
The role requires experience with homelessness, safeguarding, and strong interpersonal skills. A Christ-centered approach and ability to work unsupervised are essential for this position.
All Souls Serve the City (ASSTC) is a Westminster-based charity that seeks to serve those in our area who are isolated, overlooked, and exploited, bringing the message and ministry of Jesus. The charity was formed to consolidate a number of ministries that developed from within the All Souls Clubhouse and All Souls Church, a diverse, mutli-generational, vibrant congregation in central London with a heart to reach the city and the nations for Jesus.
ASSTC works across four ministry areas: those affected by homelessness (ASLAN), children at the All Souls Church of England school (Children and Families), senior members of our community (Senior Care), and those in the sex industry -including those who may have been trafficked (Tamar).
Our aim in ASLAN, theAllSoulsLocalActionNetwork, is to engage with people affected by homelessness by offering them individualised care, support and befriending.
ASLAN Faith and Volunteer Network (FVN) Night Shelter 26/27 is an innovative project for individuals rough sleeping in Westminster, offering communal setting emergency accommodation. The shelter will run for a minimum of 6 months, from the beginning of October to the end of March, with a possible extension to the end of June. Various churches contribute in different ways. Each venue will offer individualised companionship and support whilst the guests (re)engage with St Mungos and Westminster Council, pursue Council-directed solutions for the short term, and explore long term housing solutions.
Guests will initially be assessed by St Mungos as low risk (without mental health or addiction issues), but may be "high need" and will then be referred to the Communal Setting. For example, they may have a complex immigration status, be waiting for the outcome of an asylum appeal or they may have been offered government support elsewhere in the UK or at another time, but failed to engage with it due to language, cultural or community barriers.
The Shelter Manager will lead and oversee all aspects of the project. The role will be supported by 4Relief Coordinatorsin order to cover all morning and night shifts, seven days/ week for the duration of the Shelter run. The Shelter manager will be employed by All Souls Serve the City, the coordinating venue.
