Job summary

Southend University Hospital NHS Trust is seeking an Aseptic Production Technician to join our Pharmacy Technical Services team at Basildon Hospital. The role focuses on aseptically dispensed products, including chemotherapy and IV additives, with opportunities to supervise staff in the unit and contribute to training and SOP updates.

You will work with pharmacists and nurses, ensuring timely delivery, accurate dosing information, and strict adherence to GMP practices.

Qualifications

• A qualified Registered Pharmacy Technician, Production Technician, or someone undertaking the Science Medicine Technician qualification with aseptic experience.
• Experience in aseptic production and chemotherapy preparation is desirable.
• Good communication and leadership potential within a clinical setting.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the supply of chemotherapy to the chemotherapy day unit ensuring products are supplied in a timely manner.
• Provide information to nurses and doctors on patient doses and treatments as required.
• Participate in the compounding of all aseptic preparations.
• Complete worksheets and transcribe data from chemocare prescriptions onto worksheets with complex calculations.
• Undertake transcription, calculation and reconciliation checks on manufacturing documents before use by staff.
• Assist in updating SOPs and other documentation, and support training of junior staff.
