Job Title: ASD Teaching Assistant (Secondary)
Location: Sunderland
Salary: £84 - £108 per day (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Daily Supply, Long-Term

GSL Education are chuffed to bits to be working with a brilliant secondary school in Sunderland, and we’re on the lookout for a kind-hearted, reliable, and enthusiastic ASD Teaching Assistant to join their fantastic team. If you're patient, proactive, and passionate about supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), this could be just the opportunity you’ve been waiting for!
You’ll be part of a nurturing and inclusive environment, working closely with pupils who need that little bit of extra support to help them shine . From supporting communication to encouraging social skills and emotional development, your role will be truly meaningful.
Support students one-to-one and in small groups
Help deliver tailored learning activities based on their needs
Implement IEPs and positive behaviour strategies
Use PECS, Makaton, visual timetables, or sensory resources (where appropriate)
Encourage independence and participation in school life
Build brilliant relationships with students, staff, and parents
Monitor progress and report to the wider support team
Ensure safeguarding and student welfare is always the top priority ️
Experience working with children with ASD (school experience a bonus!)
Level 2 or 3 TA qualification (preferred but not essential)
️ Calm, patient, and flexible mindset
Great communication skills and a team-player attitude
Updated CV covering the last 10 years (with references)
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply)
Competitive daily rates (paid weekly!)

Your role will involve supporting some of the most vulnerable students, so safeguarding is crucial. All successful applicants must pass enhanced background checks and have an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be happy to apply for one).
