Manchester Metropolitan University is seeking enrolled students to act as Open Day Ambassadors. You will welcome prospective students, share your experiences and help visitors understand university life.

The current opportunity is available for current Manchester Met students; to apply you must be based in the UK for the duration of the role.

The Faculty of Arts and Humanities are looking for Students to support a number of Open Days across the Humanities, Languages and Social Sciences, Manchester Fashion Institute, School of Digital Art, and School of Art.

As a Student Ambassador, you will play an important role in welcoming prospective students and their guests, sharing your experiences of studying at Manchester Met, and helping visitors gain a positive understanding of university life. You will provide information about your course and subject area, highlight the benefits of higher education, and assist visitors throughout the day.

Key Responsibilities
  • Represent your course and subject area at Open Days and other recruitment events.
  • Support academic staff by answering questions from prospective students and guests.
  • Assist with presentations, demonstrations, and showcasing department facilities.
  • Welcome visitors, offer directions, and provide general assistance throughout the event.
  • Lead campus and subject area tours, giving visitors an engaging insight into student life and studying at Manchester Met.
  • Support the Marketing Team with event set-up and pack-down, including moving and assembling promotional materials such as pull-up banners.
Event Dates

Please indicate in your application which date(s) you are available to work:

  • Saturday 10 October
  • Saturday 17 October
  • Both dates
Working Hours

8:30am to 4:30pm (including a 30-minute unpaid break)

Training and Briefing

Details of any required briefing or training sessions will be confirmed closer to the event date.

Person Specification

This opportunity is open to current Manchester Met students only. Applicants should be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Excellent verbal communication skills, with the confidence to engage positively with staff, prospective students, teachers, and visitors.
  • The ability to act as a positive ambassador and role model for Manchester Met and its student community.
  • A responsible and proactive approach, with the confidence to use initiative when required.
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • A commitment to delivering excellent customer service and maintaining a professional and approachable manner at all times.
  • A positive attitude towards higher education, the student experience, and Manchester Metropolitan University.
