Job summary

The Education Network Birmingham is recruiting an enthusiastic Art Teacher for a specialist Alternative Provision in Birmingham to teach small groups of secondary students with SEMH needs.

You will plan and deliver engaging, practical and creative lessons, adapting to individual learning needs and working closely with pastoral staff to monitor progress and support students’ development. This is a long-term supply role with supportive staff and competitive pay rates.

Qualifications

• QTS or relevant teaching experience.
• Experience teaching Art at secondary level.
• Creative and enthusiastic approach to teaching.
• Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
• Experience within Alternative Provision, SEMH or SEND advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Teaching Art to small groups of secondary-aged students with SEMH needs.
• Planning and delivering engaging, practical and creative lessons.
• Adapting lessons to meet individual learning needs.
• Supporting students with SEMH needs or challenging behaviours.
• Building positive relationships and encouraging engagement with learning.
• Promoting confidence, creativity and independence in students.
• Monitoring progress and contributing to individual learning plans.
• Working with pastoral staff and the wider school team.
