Job summary

Smile Education Recruitment is seeking a SEN Primary Teacher (SEN Specialist) in Birmingham, B24. The role involves leading a class of pupils with additional needs and delivering engaging and inclusive lessons in a Specialist/Alternative Provision setting.

The ideal candidate will have QTS, 6+ months’ Autism experience, and at least 3 months’ SEN teaching experience, with strong behaviour management and a nurturing approach.

Qualifications

  • QTS is essential.
  • Minimum 6 months’ experience working with pupils with Autism.
  • At least 3 months’ SEN teaching experience.
  • Experience within an Alternative Provision setting is desirable.
  • Strong behaviour management and nurturing approach.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and inclusive lessons tailored to pupils with SEN.
  • Plan and implement personalised learning programmes in line with EHCPs and IEPs.
  • Create a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment that promotes positive behaviour.
  • Assess, monitor, and report on pupil progress and development.
  • Use differentiated and multi-sensory teaching strategies to meet individual needs.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, SENCOs, and external professionals.
  • Build strong, positive relationships with pupils and parents/carers.
  • Contribute to reviews, meetings, and multi-agency planning.
  • Promote safeguarding, wellbeing, and inclusion at all times.
