Role: Art Teacher

Location: Taunton

Start: September 2025

Contract: Full Time, Permanent

Salary: £30,000 - £43,600 per annum (depending on experience and qualifications)

Long-term Teachers are proud to be working with a specialist provision in Somerset to appoint a creative and enthusiastic Art Teacher for a full time, permanent position starting in September 2025. We have a long-standing relationship with this school and have placed many educators over the years, including teachers and support staff.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a nurturing, inclusive setting that supports students with autism, communication challenges and complex learning needs. About The Role:

As an Art Teacher, you’ll inspire creativity and confidence in learners across KS2 - KS4, delivering engaging, differentiated lessons that allow every student to access and enjoy the curriculum.

You will:

  • Plan and deliver Art lessons to small groups and individual students
  • Support students in achieving qualification appropriate to their ability level
  • Use imaginative, structured teaching approaches that foster self-expression and independence
  • Create a positive, calm and respectful classroom environment tailored to SEND learners
  • Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines to support each student’s wider development

Ideal Candidate:

  • Holds QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) - essential
  • Passionate about Art and student-centred learning
  • Previous experience teaching students with autism or SEND (desirable but not essential)
  • A resilient, compassionate and flexible teacher who builds strong relationships with learners
  • Excellent communication skills and an ability to work as part of a close-knit, supportive team
