Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking an enthusiastic Art Teacher to join a welcoming SEN School in Colchester, Essex. You will plan and deliver engaging Art lessons, differentiating to meet diverse learning needs.

You will work with teaching assistants and specialists to support pupils with ASC, SEMH and other needs, monitor progress and foster confidence and creativity.

Qualifications

  • Holds QTS or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching Art in a secondary school, SEN setting, or alternative provision.
  • Passion for supporting children with additional needs.
  • Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
  • Creative, adaptable, patient and resilient.
  • Commitment to improving outcomes for pupils with SEN.

As an Art Teacher, you will:
  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated Art lessons tailored to students' individual learning needs.
  • Inspire pupils to explore their creativity through a variety of artistic mediums and techniques.

  • Support students with Special Educational Needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and associated learning difficulties.

  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, and other professionals to provide holistic support for learners.
The Ideal Candidate
  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Has experience teaching Art within a secondary school, SEN setting, or alternative provision.
  • Is passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs.
  • Possesses excellent communication and classroom management skills.
  • Is creative, adaptable, patient, and resilient.
  • Has a genuine commitment to improving outcomes for pupils with SEN.
