Job summary

Barnsley College is seeking an enthusiastic Art/3D Technician to join our Digital & Creative Industries department. You will provide specialist technical support across the Art and Design provision, maintaining safe facilities within the 3D workshop, printmaking workshops and studios, and assist teaching staff and students to enhance learning outcomes.

You will operate and maintain 3D workshop machinery, undertake risk assessments, monitor COSHH registers, and ensure resources remain safe and

Qualifications

• Level 3 qualification or above in a relevant subject.
• GCSE Maths and English (Level 2 or equivalent).
• At least one year of relevant work experience.
• Good working knowledge of a 3D workshop environment and the maintenance and operation of related machinery.
• Experience writing risk assessments and updating COSHH registers.
• Good IT skills including Word, Excel, Teams and PowerPoint.
• Understanding of compliance procedures.
• Good organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Effective time management skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Experience preparing and setting up exhibitions for artwork in various mediums.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist technical support across Art and Design provision, maintaining safe facilities within the 3D workshop and related studios.
• Operate and maintain machinery in the 3D workshop and ensure facilities are safe and well maintained.
• Manage equipment and resources, keeping accurate records and COSHH registers.
• Support students and staff, promoting safe working practices and learning activities.
• Contribute to teaching and learning by providing practical workshop support and supervision.
