The Ministry of Defence is seeking a motivated Training Administration Officer to manage training applications for service personnel. This role involves coordinating training logistics, ensuring a positive experience for applicants, and working closely with a team to enhance training administration.
The Ministry of Defence employs over 50,000 Civil Servants, including around 7,000 MOD Civil Servants in the Army Top Level Budget (TLB) at over 300 locations. Our diverse workforce covers roles from trainers, HR, teachers, psychologists, to storekeepers, financiers, project managers, and policy staff. The Army Adventurous Training Group delivers Leadership and Resilience Training to the RN, Army, and RAF through activities like Sub Aqua Diving, Offshore Sailing, Parachuting, Paragliding, Gliding, Mountaineering, Caving, Kayaking, Canoeing, and Skiing.
We promote Smarter Working with flexible practices, digital technology, and modern workspaces to support work-life balance. However, this position requires at least 60% office presence (3 days/week) and 100% onsite attendance, with occasional remote work at the Line Manager's discretion. The role is advertised at 37 hours per week.
We seek a motivated individual to manage up to 8,000 applications annually, allocating training places for service personnel. The Training Administration Officer is often the first point of contact, assisting applicants with course and exercise preparations at the Joint Services Adventurous Sail Training Centre.
Working with two other Officers, this role focuses on exercise and expedition planning, movement bookings, and attendance, with cross-training in other areas. The team provides essential training administration, ensuring a positive experience for potential students, conducting safety and application checks, collecting feedback, and improving customer support.

Training will be provided on operating systems and the Royal Yachting Association training schemes. Staff are encouraged to participate in sailing training during induction. We support up to two weeks annually for personal development, alongside regular training.

The role does not include relocation expenses. External recruits are subject to a six-month probation. Travel expenses for interviews are not reimbursed. The department is reviewing pay allowances, which may impact current allowances.
