Job summary

A leading facilities management company is seeking a Maintenance Technician to oversee planned and reactive maintenance in Bedford and surrounding areas. Qualifications

  • Minimum GCSE/Standard Grade; qualifications in electrical installation/maintenance required.
  • Experience with three-phase electrics preferred.
  • Full driving license essential.

This is a permanent vacancy that will close in 25 days at 23:59 BST.

The Vacancy
Job Purpose:

This is a key position responsible for planned and reactive maintenance across multiple site locations.

You will be the first point of contact for maintenance issues at your allocated sites. You may need to request specialist attendance after the initial call-out. The role also involves reactive and planned maintenance of food services and catering equipment, with training provided. Specialist attendance may be required following initial call-out.

The main goal is to carry out technical repairs and PPMs, ensuring all technical and compliance paperwork is completed accurately and promptly.

All work must meet high standards, be efficient, cost-effective, and comply with all Health and Safety legislation.

Key Accountabilities
People
  • Promote our company culture, values, and behaviors
  • Attend necessary training courses and keep technical skills updated
Performance
  • Prioritize maintenance and repairs to meet timescales and response times
  • Complete PPMs and reactive maintenance within scheduled times, with proper documentation
  • Respond promptly to service requests, assess requirements, and perform repairs
  • Identify faults, advise the Line Manager with recommendations for replacements
  • Inform site managers of issues affecting operations
  • Conduct surveys and prepare reports as required
  • Maintain standards of quality in collaboration with company and customer staff
  • Perform minor alterations and installations within technical competence
  • Carry out repairs on food service assets, adhering to policies
  • Complete repairs on customer sites as assigned
  • Represent the company professionally and build good relationships with clients and staff
  • Monitor and update the Mercury system with live job data
Process
  • Follow Health and Safety policies at all times
  • Complete mandatory training and modules
  • Conduct emergency lighting tests and log repairs needed
  • Keep compliance documentation current
  • Communicate effectively with team and management
  • Follow purchase order procedures and ensure costs are approved
Other
  • Perform additional duties as required
  • Participate in a 1 in 4 standby on-call rota

This role involves logging material expenses and purchasing.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Minimum GCSE/Standard Grade; NVQ Level 3/City and Guilds 236 Part 1 & 2 or equivalent in electrical installation/maintenance
  • City and Guilds 2382 18th edition
  • Experience with three-phase electrics and applications
  • Ability to maintain and repair electrical and mechanical food service equipment
  • Focus on quality repairs and efficiency
  • Respond quickly to service requests and complete scheduled maintenance
  • Adhere to Health and Safety policies
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Full driving license
