Job summary

Wilson James in Slough is seeking an Area Relief Officer to help maintain a safe and secure environment across client sites. You will welcome staff and visitors, conduct regular patrols, monitor access points and CCTV, and respond to incidents with professionalism.

This permanent full-time role requires a valid DS SIA Licence, proven security experience, strong observation, and excellent communication. You will work 42 hours weekly, including days and nights, on a rotating shift pattern.

Responsibilities

• Respond promptly to alarms, emergencies and security incidents with appropriate action.
• Complete detailed reports on daily activities, incidents and security concerns.
• Assist in emergencies including evacuations and first aid support if required.
• Adapt to different client sites and work as part of a diverse, supportive team.
• Remain calm and act decisively in high‑pressure situations.

About the Role:

As an Area Relief Officer, you will be responsible for:

• Conducting regular patrols and monitor premises to prevent unauthorised access, theft, or vandalism.
• Monitoring access points, CCTV, and handling security procedures
• Respond promptly to alarms, emergencies, and security incidents, taking appropriate action as needed.
• Complete detailed reports on daily activities, incidents, and any security concerns.
• Assist in emergency situations, including evacuations and first aid support if required.
• Adapting to different client sites – no two days are the same
• Responding calmly and confidently to incidents or concerns
• Working as part of a diverse, supportive team

What we are looking for:

• To hold a current DS SIA Licence
• Proven experience in a security role or a similar position.
• Strong observational skills with the ability to identify and respond to security threats.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with staff, visitors, and authorities.
• Ability to remain calm and act decisively in high-pressure situations.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
