Job summary

West Sussex County Council is seeking an Area Building Surveyor to join the Facilities Management team, covering a broad range of assets in the county. You will work with Building Engineers and the Estates team to deliver a high-quality FM service and to understand asset requirements for different sites.

The role requires travel around the county, a full-time pattern (37 hours/week), and strong technical skills in building surveyance, project delivery and stakeholder liaison.

Qualifications

• Degree in Surveying / Building or equivalent with substantial relevant experience.
• Chartered membership or evidence of progression towards MRICS/MCIOB.
• Strong knowledge of building construction, codes and CDM requirements.
• Experience with asset management and maintenance processes.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high quality facilities management support across diverse property assets.
• Collaborate with Area Building Engineers and Estates to align briefs with service needs.
• Contractor liaison, report writing and site reviews as required.
• Travel around the county to inspect and assess buildings and respond to client needs.
