Job summary

Focus Resourcing in Reading is seeking an Architectural Technician with MCIAT qualification who aims to progress towards becoming a RICS Chartered Surveyor. You will apply technical knowledge in the built environment and develop skills in building surveying, inspections, defect diagnosis, and condition reporting.

The role offers mentoring and the opportunity to gain APC experience while working with clients and contractors on projects across building surveying disciplines.

Qualifications

• Must have MCIAT qualification and be an Architectural Technologist/Technician.
• Relevant experience in architecture, architectural technology, construction or built environment.
• Strong technical understanding of building construction and detailing.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Confident working independently and in a team.
• Aim to develop a career in Building Surveying and become RICS Chartered.
• RICS/APC experience desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Undertake building surveys, inspections and condition assessments.
• Assist with defect diagnosis and prepare clear technical reports.
• Produce and review technical drawings and construction information.
• Support dilapidations, schedules of condition and planned maintenance projects.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, consultants and other professionals.
• Assist with project and contract administration where required.
• Develop knowledge across wider building surveying disciplines.
• Work towards RICS competencies and APC requirements with mentoring.
