Job Description:

Our practice provides architectural design services throughout Argyll and the Islands to a diverse range of clients. We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Architectural Technician to join our small team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of computer-aided design (CAD) software (AutoCAD) and will be responsible for creating detailed technical drawings and plans that support various projects.

Responsibilities

  • Measuring up existing buildings and land.
  • Develop and produce high-quality CAD drawings, details and models using software.
  • Develop and produce project and construction specifications and energy calculations.
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, and clients to understand project requirements and specifications.
  • Assist in the design process by providing input on design, collaborating both with client and Project Architect.
  • Preparing and submitting Planning and Building Warrant applications, including liaising with local authority and other agencies throughout.
  • Maintain an organised digital filing system for all project-related documents and drawings.
  • Participate in team meetings to discuss project progress and address any challenges

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in CAD software including AutoCAD is essential.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications accurately.
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members.
  • Strong working knowledge of the Planning and Building Standards process and regulations.
  • Good grasp of construction technology.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • A relevant qualification would be beneficial.

A driving licence and access to a car are essential, as the role will require some travel around Argyll and the Islands.
