Job summary

Build Recruitment Limited is recruiting for an Architectural Technician / Technical Designer in Hampshire to support a Defence team delivering high‑risk, security‑critical projects. You will produce clear technical drawings from survey data, develop tender packs, and collaborate across multi‑discipline teams to ensure quality and precision.

The role requires AutoCAD expertise, familiarity with Revit/BIM, and willingness to travel across the UK.

Qualifications

• Competent with AutoCAD for all conventional projections/drawings; ideally some 3D rendering.
• Experience of REVIT and BIM systems would be advantageous.
• Travel involves work on MoD establishments, predominantly south of England, with potential UK-wide duties and overnight stays.
• Car owner with mileage reimbursed at HMRC rates.
• Ability to develop tender pack documents and specifications in NBS and Excel/Word.
• Defence-related projects; ability to work to client deadlines.
• Willingness to travel and work to deadlines.

Architectural Technician / Technical Designer

Join our clients' growing our Defence Team in Hampshire!

We are seeking an experience Architectural Technician / Technical Designerfor our client, a fast growing commercial building and project consultancy with offices nationwide. The role will be working in the Defence team which provides specialist building surveying and consultancy services for clients operating in high-risk, sensitive and security-critical environments. Alongside the core problem‑solving, design and advisory skills expected of a leading building consultancy, out client brings deep expertise in protective security and risk mitigation.

This isn’t just another Architectural Technician / Technical Designer role. It’s an opportunity to step into a team that’s building something with intent, supporting complex Defence & Security projects, and delivering work that needs to be right first time.

We’re looking for someone who is confident producing clear, accurate technical drawings and packages, comfortable working from survey data and as‑built information, and who genuinely cares about detail and quality. The kind of person who takes pride in getting things right and understands the standards expected in this sector.

Candidate requirements:

• Competent with Autocad for all conventional projections/ drawing plus ideally some 3D rendering.
• Experience of REVITT and BIM systems would be advantageous.
• Travel – involves work on various MoD establishments,predominantly south of England,but could be across UK and is likely to involve stays over night or for two or three days at a time for some projects.
• Car owner (mileage reimbursed at HMRC agreed rates).
• Ability to develop tender pack documents and specifications, both in NBS and free form tender/schedule of works documents in Excel and Word.
• The main thrust of the work will be Defence related but we also cover other commercial projects.
• Ability to work to time and client pressure deadlines.
