Job description

WeWork is seeking an architectural designer with at least 4 years of experience for our London Design Studio. The role involves creating vibrant co-working environments, collaborative spaces, and special projects. The candidate will work on a fast-paced schedule requiring organization, tenacity, and teamwork. Periodic travel may be necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Manage projects independently, including establishing timelines, meeting deadlines, and managing workload.
  • Space Planning: Identify and arrange functional requirements, perform high-level programming, code analysis, and space planning. Produce design and handoff packages using Revit, including programming, layout, AoR and GC handoff, and stakeholder deliverables.
  • Design Deliverables: Create complete design packages, including interior drawings, lighting strategies, joinery and FF&E specifications, technical drawings, and coordinate with AoR and GC.
  • Member Support: Manage relationships and deliverables for Configured Member Projects during presales. Produce and coordinate architectural test-fits to support management agreements, reprogramming, and sales, ensuring quality sign-offs.
  • Collaborate with the Design & Creative Director and Design Manager at each milestone to ensure design intent aligns with project briefs. Ensure all deliverables meet WeWork’s quality standards for design, documentation, project management, cost, and local codes.
  • Work with internal teams and external consultants and suppliers to ensure design quality and adherence to specifications. Provide regular updates and address concerns professionally.
  • Source new materials, fabrics, and FF&E suppliers.
  • Monitor project costs to stay within budget.
  • Attend project and client meetings and conduct site visits.
  • Portfolios must be submitted for consideration.

About You

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in architecture or interior design, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Over 4 years of professional experience in design, construction, or operations in high-quality commercial or hospitality projects. Experience in mixed-use residential, cultural, or institutional projects is also valued.
  • Excellent communication skills—verbal, written, and graphic—and the ability to articulate ideas clearly.
  • Proficiency in Revit, Enscape, Photoshop, Google Suite, Bluebeam Revu, Adobe Creative Suite, and MS Office.
  • Strong design and space planning skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and incorporate metrics into design solutions.
  • Knowledge of construction best practices, building codes, and accessibility standards.
  • Exceptional joinery design skills and understanding of FF&E principles and dimensions.
  • Good understanding of construction materials, finishes, and effective color use.
  • Strong spatial perception and lighting sensitivity.
  • Passionate about the built environment, eager to learn and contribute.
