Job summary

Softcat plc is seeking a Solutions Architect to translate complex customer technical requirements into thoughtful, well-designed solutions across on-premise and public/private cloud offerings. The role emphasizes technical authority, demand for up-to-date cloud and data centre knowledge, and strong stakeholder communication.

• Experience in presales and data centre/cloud technologies (Rubrik, Commvault, Cohesity, Veeam).
• Ability to understand and document customers' business and technical requirements and translate into high-level designs.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to develop solutions.

Responsibilities

• Understand, scope and document customers' business and technical requirements, including MoSCoW engagements and options papers.
• Produce designs, configurations, and input into High Level Designs (HLD).
• Underwrite and act as technical design authority for solution designs and proposals.
• Work with other specialists, professional services consultants, and architects to develop cross-discipline solutions for customers.
• Present complex information clearly, persuasively, and elegantly through presentations and whiteboarding.

The Architecture Services department is made of two technic al areas ; Solutions and Vendor based presales . The Solutions Architects focus on complex architecture with knowledge ranging more broadly across one or more discipline , whilst Vendor Architects specialise on providing expertise within specified vendors and provide a deeper level of understanding of those vendors.

As a Solutions Architect , you will work as a member of Architecture Services department to translate a client's tec hnical requirements into innovative, thoughtful, and well-designed solutions either on premise or via a public or private cloud offering. The role requires demonstrating the skills of a subject matter expert, which means constantly striving to be at the top of your game in the latest technolog ies and methodologies. B eing able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding on Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (BC/DR) and the wider Hybrid Infrastructure (compute, storage, networking, BC/DR , cloud, virtualisation, management, and infrastructure) is a core part of the role.

As Architect, you'll be responsible for:

• Helping to understand, scope and document customers' business and technical requirements, including running MoSCoW style engagements, including marketing reviews and options papers
• Producing designs, configurations, and input into High Level Designs (HLD)
• Underwriting and acting as technical design authority for solution designs and proposals
• Working with other specialists, professional services consultants, and architects to develop cross-discipline solutions for customers
• Being able to present complex information clearly, persuasively, and elegantly orally through presentations and whiteboarding

We'd love you to have

• Demonstrate experience of presales and relevant datacentre and cloud technologies, such as Rubrik, Commvault, Cohesity, and Veeam
• Support the Hybrid Platforms “Cyber Resilience” theme which focuses on reducing cyber risk with modern data protection & management systems, and improving business continuity with DR & Cyber Recovery systems
• Experience of conducting customer meetings, whiteboarding and documenting solutions
• A passion for technology and for making technology work for businesses
• Ability to under stand and ratify technical designs at high level
• Excellent communications skills, particularly with customers
