Job description

Pritchard Architecture is seeking a talented and enthusiastic Architect to join our growing team in Portsmouth.

We are a heritage-led architectural practice with a dynamic and expanding portfolio that includes conservation, adaptive reuse, and carefully considered new-build projects. From listed buildings and museums to complex public-sector schemes, our work is defined by thoughtful design, a deep respect for historic environments, and a collaborative approach.

Based in the heart of Portsmouth, this is a unique opportunity to contribute to a diverse range of heritage and conservation projects across the South of England.

We welcome applications from both experienced architects and recently qualified architects who are passionate about heritage, design excellence, and creating meaningful places. The role offers the opportunity to work across all project stages within a supportive and collaborative studio environment.

You will be joining a small, friendly, and committed team delivering projects that bring cultural, social, and historic value to the communities we serve.

We are looking for someone who:
  • Is an ARB-registered Architect (or recently qualified and eligible for registration)
  • Has a genuine interest in heritage architecture and conservation
  • Has experience working with historic buildings and heritage projects (desirable but not essential for recently qualified candidates)
  • Possesses excellent design, creativity, and problem-solving skills
  • Communicates clearly and confidently in both written and spoken English
  • Is well organised, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Can work both independently and collaboratively as part of a close-knit team
  • Is proactive and keen to develop professionally in a supportive environment
  • Is proficient in CAD software, ideally Vectorworks and SketchUp
Requirements:
  • ARB-registered Architect
  • Full UK driving licence and own transport
  • Right to work in the UK
What We Offer:
  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience
  • Flexible working arrangements
  • A collaborative and supportive studio culture within a unique historic setting
  • Opportunities to work on projects with real cultural significance
  • Continued professional development and career progression opportunities
  • Exposure to a varied portfolio of heritage, conservation, and contemporary projects
