Our Archaeology team is based in six UK offices, with major centers in Bury St Edmunds and Carlisle, featuring purpose-built facilities for post-excavation and fieldwork operations. We are seeking a Field Archaeologist or Senior Archaeologist to support our expanding regional projects. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 months of site experience in commercial archaeology.
You will join our team and may work on various sites across the UK, including large-scale evaluations and excavations. The role may also involve geophysics projects if you have relevant experience or are willing to learn. Familiarity with paper-based and digital recording systems is desirable but not essential.
Applicants should be flexible regarding travel and working hours, as projects are located across the UK. We prioritize local archaeologists for local sites to benefit both archaeological and environmental outcomes. A full driving license and access to a car are required. We offer a competitive subsistence package, travel allowance, and single-occupancy accommodation. Overtime during unsocial hours (10pm–6am) is paid at 1.5x rate or TOIL.
For permanent staff, work involves a balance of office and home-based tasks. We support personal development through tailored plans, annual appraisals, and a dedicated training budget. We cover professional subscriptions like CIfA (or equivalent).
