Purpose of role:
To maintain all EC&I equipment across the Heysham site:
- Breakdown response and repair.
- ATEX inspections and SIF proof testing.
- Implementation of preventative maintenance plan.
- Arrange servicing of switchgear and LV distribution inspections.
- Manage external contractors when necessary.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain all electrical plant and equipment in line with company policies and regulations, ensuring safety and compliance.
- Manage daily electrical breakdowns at Heysham in a hazardous area environment.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical, control, and instrumentation faults promptly.
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance plans using the site SAP system, focusing on safety-critical equipment.
- Perform proof testing on SIF circuits.
- Assist with other engineering tasks as workload demands.
- Adhere to health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Complete work permits and system isolations for safe maintenance and repairs.
- Maintain good housekeeping standards across the site.
- Coordinate inspections and testing of switchgear and distribution boards, including power outage planning.
- Arrange inspections of earth bonds and lightning protection equipment.
- Continuously improve electrical, control, and instrumentation functions to reduce plant downtime and maintenance costs, enhancing reliability.
- Supervise electrical, instrumentation, and control contractors to ensure compliance with regulations like 19th edition wiring regulations and ATEX.
- Manage stock of electrical, instrumentation, and control spares and consumables for effective maintenance.
- Conduct risk assessments and method statements for electrical, instrumentation, and control work tasks.
- Contribute to site performance improvements in safety, compliance, productivity, and cost efficiency.
- Provide electrical engineering support and expertise.
- Maintain accurate records of work using SAP CMMS system.
- Work in accordance with written maintenance and operational procedures.
- Develop task instructions for routine electrical maintenance, considering human factors.
- Ensure work complies with HSWA, IPPC, COSHH, and other relevant regulations.
- Support achievement of departmental and site production and performance objectives.
