Job summary

East Kent Colleges Group is seeking an Apprenticeship Trainer in Carpentry and Joinery to deliver high-quality training and assessment for apprentices and work closely with employers to ensure industry-standard outcomes.

The role focuses on guiding learners from core skills to competence, delivering practical and theoretical sessions, and providing meaningful feedback to support progression and End-Point Assessment readiness. Collaboration with teams across EKC Group is essential.

Qualifications

• Strong practical experience and knowledge within Carpentry and Joinery.
• Ability to inspire, motivate and engage learners from diverse backgrounds.
• Willing to work towards assessor/QA qualifications (e.g., D34, V1) with support.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging practical and theoretical training in Carpentry and Joinery.
• Support apprentices to develop required skills, knowledge and behaviours.
• Assess learners' progress and provide constructive feedback.
• Work with employers to ensure training reflects industry standards.
• Monitor and record apprentice progress to keep learners on track for qualifications.

Their future - Join us an Apprenticeship Trainer As an Apprenticeship Trainer - Carpentry and Joinery, you'll have the opportunity to make a real difference to the careers of future tradespeople, while sharing your own industry knowledge and experience. You'll work closely with apprentices and employers to provide a high-quality training and assessment experience, helping learners progress from developing their fundamental skills through to becoming confident, capable professionals. Your role will include:

• Delivering engaging practical and theoretical training in Carpentry and Joinery.
• Supporting apprentices to develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours required for their apprenticeship.
• Assessing learners' progress and providing constructive, meaningful feedback to help them improve.
• Working closely with employers to ensure training reflects current industry standards and workplace requirements.
• Monitoring and recording apprentice progress, ensuring learners remain on track to achieve their qualifications.
• Supporting apprentices through their programme and towards successful End-Point Assessment.
• Creating a positive, inclusive and encouraging learning environment where apprentices can thrive.
• Working collaboratively with colleagues across the curriculum and apprenticeship teams.

• Strong practical experience and knowledge within Carpentry and Joinery.
• A passion for supporting and developing apprentices and new entrants to the industry.
• The ability to inspire, motivate and engage learners from a range of backgrounds.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• An Assessor qualification, such as D32/D33, A1 or the Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (CAVA).
• An Internal Quality Assurance qualification, such as TDLB D34, V1 or the Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice, would be desirable.
• Don't have the assessment or quality assurance qualifications yet? That's not necessarily a barrier. We welcome applications from experienced candidates who are willing to work towards these qualifications, with appropriate support and development. Most importantly, you'll be committed to helping apprentices achieve their potential and will take pride in preparing them with the skills, knowledge and confidence they need to succeed in the construction industry.
