Job summary

Educate Group is recruiting a Carpentry and Joinery Tutor/Assessor in Cheshire East. This practical role is based in an educational setting with some travel to apprentices' workplaces, where you will train, coach and assess learners and help them develop practical skills and professional behaviours for the construction industry.

Applications are welcomed from experienced carpenters and joiners, with funded teaching and assessor training available on post.

Qualifications

  • Hold a relevant vocational qualification in Carpentry and Joinery or Construction.
  • Substantial practical experience in Carpentry and Joinery.
  • Experience coaching, mentoring, supervising or training others.
  • Teaching or assessor qualification, or willingness to work towards one.
  • Ability to motivate apprentices and build positive working relationships.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Comfortable using IT systems and maintaining records.
  • Able to manage a busy caseload and prioritise workload.
  • Committed to safeguarding, equality and learner achievement.

Responsibilities

  • Delivering practical Carpentry and Joinery training.
  • Coaching, mentoring and assessing apprentices.
  • Supporting practical activities that develop occupational competence.
  • Visiting apprentices in the workplace to review progress and gather evidence.
  • Completing inductions, initial assessments and skills reviews.
  • Creating action plans and conducting formal progress reviews.
  • Maintaining accurate learner records and electronic portfolios.
  • Monitoring apprenticeship progress and off-the-job training.
  • Working closely with employers to support apprentice development.
  • Embedding safeguarding, Prevent, British Values and health and safety into delivery.
  • Contributing to team meetings, quality assurance and standardisation activities.
  • Supporting open days and employer-engagement events.

Are you an experienced carpenter or joiner interested in passing your knowledge on to the next generation?

Educate Group is recruiting a Carpentry and Joinery Tutor / Assessor on behalf of an established education and training provider in Cheshire East.

This is a practical role based within an educational setting, with some travel to apprentices’ workplaces. You will train, coach and assess apprentices, helping them develop the practical skills, knowledge and professional behaviours needed to succeed within the construction industry.

You do not need to be a qualified teacher to apply. Applications are welcomed fromexperienced carpenters and joiners, with funded teaching and assessor training available while in post.

The role

Your responsibilities will include:

About you
