Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is offering a fixed-term two-year apprenticeship for a Pre-Registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician based at Whiston and St Helens Hospitals. The role requires commitment to college assignments and 10 hours per week of study time.

Successful completion leads to GPhC registration as a Pharmacy Technician. Apprentices will rotate through inpatient, outpatient, wards, dispensing and stores, with access to automated dispensing systems.

Qualifications

• GCSEs or equivalent including Maths, English and 2 Science subjects.
• Alternatively 2 years pharmacy experience with NVQ L2 and a science assessment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in receiving prescriptions accurately.
• Assist in dispensing under supervision.
• Rotate through pharmacy sections including dispensaries, stores and aseptic unit.
• Assist in dispensing controlled drugs and maintain records.
• Assist with stock control and ordering.
• Take payments for prescriptions as required.
• Prepare and assemble supplies for ward delivery.
• Support in patient medicines information and advice.
