Job summary

Caterpillar Peterlee is seeking trainee welders for a structured entry program at its Peterlee facility. You will start with intensive welding training at East Durham College and progressively join operations, developing welding skills to meet plant needs.

Initial pay is for training weeks, with a clear pathway to higher hourly rates after completion. The role offers shift work with days, backs, and nights in a three-shift pattern, and a commitment to ongoing training.

Qualifications

• Personal motivation to succeed.
• Willing and eager to learn new skills.
• Driven and responsible individual.
• Trainees must be 19 or older on or before 1st August 2026.
• Flexibility to work across all 3 shifts when needed.
• Some experience in a welding environment.
• Currently reside within the catchment areas.

Responsibilities

• Intensive training in welding theory and practical welding for 8 weeks at East Durham College before entering the Peterlee facility.
• Training on the basic fundamentals and required aspects of welding in line with People, Quality, Velocity and Cost.
• Adhere to standard work practices.
• Adhere to H&S and PPE requirements.
