Job summary

Hyde Group is offering an apprentice welder role to start a career in welding and fabrication in a modern facility. You will join a supportive team while working toward a recognised apprenticeship qualification.

You will learn a range of welding and fabrication techniques, read engineering drawings, and develop practical skills under supervision. The program includes mentoring and a structured training plan designed for long-term development.

Qualifications

• Willingness to learn and develop practical skills in a workshop environment.
• Good attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.
• Ability to work as part of a team and communicate with colleagues and supervisors.
• Good timekeeping and reliability; commitment to completing apprenticeship.
• GCSEs in Maths and English (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Learn welding and fabrication techniques under supervision, including TIG welding.
• Support fabrication and welding of components for aerospace and defence sectors.
• Read and understand engineering drawings, specifications and work instructions.
• Assist with preparation, measurement, cutting, assembly and finishing activities.
• Work towards apprenticeship milestones and safety standards.

As an Apprentice Welder, your responsibilities will include

• Learning a range of welding and fabrication techniques under supervision, including TIG welding processes.
• Supporting the fabrication and welding of components for sectors including aerospace and defence.
• Developing the ability to read and understand engineering drawings, specifications and work instructions.
• Assisting with preparation, measurement, cutting, assembly and finishing activities as part of the welding process.
• Working towards achieving the required standards, quality expectations and apprenticeship milestones.
• Maintaining a clean, organised and safe work area.
• Following all health, safety and environmental procedures always.

About You – Requirements

• Willingness to learn, take instruction and develop practical skills in a workshop environment.
• Good attention to detail and a positive attitude towards quality and safety.
• Ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively with colleagues, supervisors and mentors.
• Good timekeeping, reliability and commitment to completing the apprenticeship programme.
• GCSEs in Maths and English, or equivalent, are desirable. Support may be available where functional skills are required.
