Job summary

Hyde Group Ltd is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer to lead quality assurance across fabrication, welding and NDT in our Dukinfield facility. You will ensure compliance with AS9100, NADCAP, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 while driving root cause analysis, process improvements and right‑first‑time culture across production.

The role requires hands-on leadership, collaboration with Engineering and Production, and mentoring of Quality Inspectors as the business delivers high‑value aerospace programs.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Quality Engineer in aerospace fabrication or welding.
• Strong knowledge of AS9100, NADCAP, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
• Experience with FAIRs, PPAP, RCCA and audits.
• Ability to interpret drawings and GD&T to verify conformance.
• Lean/Six Sigma improvement experience desirable.
• Excellent communication with customers and regulators.
• Proficiency with MS Office and QMS systems.

Responsibilities

• Act as technical authority for quality matters in fabrication, welding and assembly.
• Lead audits (internal, external, customer) and ensure closure of non-conformances.
• Direct FAIRs, PPAP, APQP in line with aerospace requirements.
• Manage supplier quality audits, assessments and corrective actions.
• Drive root cause analysis and implement 8D, 5-Whys, Ishikawa.
• Support NPI from a quality standpoint to mitigate risk.
• Mentor Quality Inspectors and Technicians.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Production and Supply Chain to uphold quality.

About the opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Senior Quality Engineer to lead and support quality assurance activities across our fabrication, welding and non-destructive testing operations. This is a hands-on, proactive role suited to an experienced engineer who thrives in a fast-paced aerospace manufacturing environment and is passionate about maintaining the highest levels of quality, compliance, and customer satisfaction. As a key member of the Quality team, you'll ensure adherence to AS9100, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and NADCAP standards while driving robust root cause analysis, process improvement, and right-first-time culture throughout production. You'll work closely with senior leadership, production teams, and customers to maintain our reputation for exceptional quality and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as a technical authority for all quality-related matters within fabrication, welding, and assembly operations.
• Ensure compliance with AS9100, NADCAP, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards.
• Lead internal, external, and customer audits, ensuring timely closure of non-conformances.
• Conduct and oversee FAIRs, PPAP, APQP and other customer deliverables in line with aerospace requirements.
• Manage supplier quality performance, including audits, assessments, and corrective actions.
• Drive root cause analysis and implement effective corrective and preventive actions (8D, 5-Whys, Ishikawa, etc).
• Support new product introduction (NPI) from a quality standpoint, ensuring compliance and risk mitigation.
• Lead quality improvement projects to enhance manufacturing efficiency and reduce defects.
• Provide mentorship and support to Quality Inspectors and Technicians.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Production, and Supply Chain teams to uphold quality standards and customer satisfaction.
• Documentation & Standards: Ensure all quality documentation, procedures, and records are accurate and accessible.
• Data Analysis & Reporting: Monitor key quality metrics, identify trends, and provide clear reports to senior management.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Proven experience as a Quality Engineer (ideally 5 years) within aerospace fabrication or welding environments.
• In-depth knowledge of AS9100, NADCAP special processes, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001.
• Strong background in FAIRs, PPAP, RCCA, and auditing (internal or lead auditor qualification preferred).
• Practical understanding of fabrication and welding processes.
• Confident in interpreting engineering drawings, GD&T, and customer specifications.
• Skilled in problem-solving and process improvement using structured methodologies (Lean/Six Sigma desirable).
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including with customers and regulatory bodies.
• Proficiency with MS Office and quality management systems (Q-Pulse or similar).

Desirable Qualifications

• Degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Aerospace Engineering (or equivalent).
• Lead Auditor Certification (AS9100 or ISO 9001).
• Six Sigma Green Belt or similar continuous improvement qualification.
• Experience with customer and regulatory audits (e.g., NADCAP, BSI, OEM).
