Job summary

Group 1 Automotive Ipswich is recruiting an Apprentice Vehicle Technician. You will learn hands-on servicing and maintenance on our vehicles, earning while you train, and gaining formal qualifications in a supportive team.

You’ll be part of a friendly, welcoming workforce that emphasises customer service, teamwork and continuous development. The role includes 33 days’ leave equity, pension plans, and employee discounts as part of our benefits.

Qualifications

• Punctual and strong timekeeping skills.
• Able to work well under pressure and meet targets.
• Excellent teamwork and communication abilities.
• GCSEs in Math, English and Science are required or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Servicing vehicles and carrying out checks and maintenance per brand guidelines.
• Identify, repair and replace faulty components and parts.
• Liaise with Service Advisors about required repairs or vehicle work.
• Maintain accurate service and repair records.
• Demonstrate tidiness in the work bay and surrounding area.
• Consider customer impact in all vehicle activities.
• Meet the apprenticeship academic requirements with the provider and track progress.

What you’ll do day to day

• Servicing our vehicles – you’ll be carrying out checks and maintenance in accordance with brand guidelines.
• Identifying, repairing and replacing components and parts that are faults.
• Liaising with our Service Advisors about required repairs or vehicle work.
• Maintaining repair and service records.
• Learn and demonstrate work bay and surrounding area tidiness.
• To always consider the customer impact on any activity with the vehicle, demonstrating our customer-centric approach.
• To satisfy the academic requirements of the apprenticeship – engage with our provider and ensure course progress.
