Job summary

Derby City Council’s Alvaston Infant and Nursery School in Derby is seeking an Apprentice Teaching Assistant (SEND) to work with the Headteacher and inclusion team. You will support children with SEND, contribute to high standards of education, and assist with targeted support.

The role is classroom based for around 4 days per week, with some days requiring early starts (7:30am) and late finishes (6pm). A permanent contract is offered alongside safeguarding and inclusion responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Champions inclusion for every child and never gives up.
• Very high standard of written and spoken English.
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues to support learning.

Responsibilities

• Support children with SEND and/or disabilities in class and targeted groups.
• Work with the Headteacher, inclusion team and SENDcos.
• Be flexible with hours; classroom-based for ~4 days per week and additional support from 7:30am to 6pm on some days.
