Job summary

Cygnet Hospital Sherwood in the East Midlands is recruiting three Apprentice Support Workers to help vulnerable adults. You'll work and learn for a year, earning a City & Guilds qualification in care while gaining hands-on experience in a 44-bed male hospital.

You'll work three 12-hour shifts per week (42 hours monthly) with a learning day every second week, including day, night, weekend and bank holiday work.

We are looking for three Apprentice Support Workers with a drive to support and improve the lives of the vulnerable adults in our care at Cygnet Hospital Sherwood.

You’ll be working and learning, earning a City & Guilds qualification in care over the course of a year.

You’ll work three 12 hour shifts per week, with a learning day every second week, which works out to 42 hours per week across the month. The role includes day, night, weekend and bank holiday working.

You’ll be gaining experience at Cygnet Hospital Sherwood, a 44-bedded hospital for males. Hospital Sherwood has three wards – two Acutes and a PICU.

Main duties of the job

Your day-to-day

• Offer enhanced care and support with a flexible, person-centred approach for all the people in our care
• Provide guidance & encouragement through physical & emotional support
• Learn about individuals specific needs & provide help in the most appropriate way
• Assist with and report on any medical & welfare needs
• Ensuring that the people in our care are kept safe from abuse, neglect and harm
• Maintain a safe, clean environment for all
