Job summary

ABB UK is offering an apprentice Technical Engineer role in a manufacturing environment. You will learn to design, cost and manufacture, while gaining hands-on experience with BOMs, routings and ERP master data. You will work with Autodesk Inventor to create 3D models and technical drawings, supporting the quotation team with customer requirements.

Joining is a structured development path with mentorship, aimed at building practical engineering skills and progression within ABB as you grow.

Qualifications

  • GCSE English, Maths and Science at grade C/4+ or equivalent.
  • A-Levels in Engineering or Physics preferred; willingness to learn.
  • Good understanding of engineering principles and manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Create, maintain, and update BOM and routing data in the ERP system.
  • Develop understanding of product structures and manufacturing processes.
  • Support cost analysis and quotation activities with engineering inputs.
  • Use Autodesk Inventor to create 3D models and technical drawings.
  • Translate customer requirements into accurate technical designs.

You will learn how products are designed, costed and manufactured, while gaining hands-on experience in maintaining Bill of Materials (BOM), routing and master data within the company’s ERP system. Working alongside experienced engineers, you will develop an understanding of manufacturing processes, technical drawings, product structures and production costs. You will also support the quotation team with customer-specific requirements and learn how to develop technical solutions for special and customised products.
