Job summary

Society of St James seeks an Apprentice Painter and Decorator (Level 2) to join the maintenance team across Southampton, Portsmouth and Aldershot on a 2-year fixed term. Salary is £15,392 per annum and the role is full-time with on-site work.

You will learn surface preparation, painting techniques and decorative finishes while working with a qualified painter and pursuing a recognised trade qualification.

Qualifications

• Good manual dexterity for clean edges and precise masking.
• Surface prep knowledge: sand, fill, prime.
• Problem-solving and adaptability for older building quirks.
• Health and safety: PPE, ventilation, non-toxic/low-VOC paints.

Responsibilities

• Learn surface preparation, painting techniques, and decorative finishes.
• Work alongside a qualified time-served painter to gain qualification.
• Assist in maintaining safe, clean, and well-maintained spaces.
