JG Pears Newark is offering an Apprentice Mechanical Engineer position with a day-release college programme. You will gain hands-on experience in mechanical and process engineering, mentored by experienced engineers, and work on maintenance, fault finding, and project tasks.
The role includes the Apprenticeship Standard in Engineering Fitter Level 3, with a dedicated assessor and site mentor. Shift is Mon-Fri 7am-3pm, with overtime during maintenance shuts.

Working as part of a small team to carry out:
Proactive/planned mechanical maintenance
Fault finding/reactive breakdown mechanical repairs
Mechanical projects and outage works
The apprentice will work towards their Apprenticeship Standard in the Engineering Fitter Level 3
The successful candidate will be assigned a dedicated assessor and identified a site mentor who will provide support and guidance throughout the course
This is a Day Release programme, which means you will attend College, 1 day per week, term time only. This will fall within your contracted working hours

GCSE in: English and Maths (grade A*/9 – C/4) - Essential

Will need to have own transport; a power plant producing steam and electricity from animal by-products; strict health and safety.
Monday - Friday 7am - 3pm. The site shuts down for full maintenance, and during these periods, weekends and overtime will be worked. Overtime is paid at 1.25.
Salary: £16,640 to £26,436.80, depending on your age National Minimum Wage Minimum wage rates (opens in new tab) Company-paid training options to gain your forklift license (age-appropriate). Bonus after 6-month probation
