Job summary

Arnold Clark Group at York Motorstore is recruiting Apprentice Mechanics. You’ll be paid while you learn and gain an Autocare Level 2 qualification with hands-on service experience.

You’ll receive tools, uniform, two weeks of initial training at GTG centres, mentor support, and help with a driving licence, plus benefits such as 33 days’ leave and private healthcare.

Qualifications

• GCSE Maths, English and a traditional science or technical subject (or accredited equivalent).
• Literacy and numeracy skills with a practical mindset.
• Willingness to learn and take instruction.

Responsibilities

• Working with wheels and tyres.
• Basic servicing, including car health checks.
• Working with steering and suspension.
• Carrying out MOT preparation.
• Putting theory into practice in the workplace.
• Learning about electrical fault diagnostics.
• Filming videos of work done to build trust with customers.

This is a full-time role, 39 hours a week.

As an Arnold Clark apprentice, you’ll attend one of our dedicated training centres, GTG, for two weeks’ initial training, and receive classroom training throughout your apprenticeship. You’ll also regularly be assessed in the workplace to make sure you’re on track for success.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who’s willing to learn and wants to advance their career. You’ll need to have loads of enthusiasm for the work and be able to take instructions and advice from your mentor in a workplace environment. At the end of the qualification, there are also some fantastic career opportunities on offer for successful participants.

Essential skills

• You must be literate, numerate, reliable and keen to learn.

• Ability to take instruction and use your own initiative.
