Job summary

The Best Connection are recruiting an Apprentice Machinist for a long-established client in Forest Row. You will receive full training on saw, planing and moulding machinery, with clear prospects for progression and salary growth.

Based in Forest Row, this construction-industry role offers Monday-Friday hours (7:30am-5:00pm) with rotational Saturdays in the yard. Pay is £29,741.40 per annum, and a full UK driving licence is required.

Qualifications

• Ideally experience operating machinery.
• Ideally experience operating counterbalance forklifts (not essential).
• Good understanding of timber products and machining processes (ideal but not essential).
• Ability to read and follow instructions from sales orders.
• Physically fit and capable of manual work.
• Able to work independently and use own initiative.
• Strong awareness of health and safety procedures.
• Full UK driving licence required.

Responsibilities

• Learning how to safely operate the machinery.
• Cutting, preparing and processing products to specification.
• Assisting with the handling and movement of timber throughout the workplace.
• Working as part of a small team to ensure production targets are met.
• Maintaining high standards of health and safety. Supporting yard operations and customer requirements when required, including Saturday yard duties.
• Keeping work areas clean, safe and organised.
