Job summary

Sheffield City Council is offering an Apprentice Library and Archive Assistant role. You will support library services, help customers access online information, and promote reading across the community.

The apprenticeship is level 3 and includes training to deliver efficient, customer-focused library services across several city venues. Shift pattern includes Saturdays and some evening work; hours are 37 per week on a rota.

Responsibilities

• support the delivery of library and information services to ensure a high-quality service
• assist customers to access online information and resources and encourage use by a wide range of customers
• gain in-depth knowledge about the library service and receive training to assist in providing an efficient library service
• work towards gaining the Library, Information and Archive Assistant apprenticeship – level 3
• have a passion for reading and share this with customers
• have excellent communication and digital skills
• work with partners and volunteers
• deliver a customer focused service
• locations across Chapeltown, Ecclesall, Highfield and Crystal Peaks; some days at other locations as required
