Job summary

Stoke-on-Trent City Council is recruiting an apprentice for the Fleet Operations & Compliance team at the Weighbridge Site Lodge. You will work towards a Level 3 Heavy Vehicle and Service Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship, studying at Stoke on Trent College, over 36 months with End Point Assessment.

The role includes maintaining a tidy workshop, assisting with maintenance and repair of large goods vehicles, and supporting training activities to meet deadlines while building a portfolio

Qualifications

• Have some knowledge of Large Goods Vehicles maintenance and repair.
• Be aware of health and safety legislation and adhere to a safe working environment and practices.
• Have good numeracy and literacy skills.
• Be confident in using IT such as Word and Excel.
• Be willing to gain good customer service skills and able to develop effective working relationships.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean and tidy workshop.
• Work on various vehicles, plant and equipment gaining experience in maintenance and repairing large goods vehicles.
• Collecting parts from the stores for technicians.
• Undertake and complete any training as and when required and attending college.
