Job summary

SGN in Glasgow is launching an Apprenticeship for an Emergency Gas Responder. The 3-year programme includes college blocks and on-site training to become a qualified Gas Engineer. Start date 11 January 2027. It offers a competitive starting salary of £29.3k per year, a completion bonus, and various benefits.

Applicants must have National 5s including Maths and English, a drive to learn, and the ability to drive within 6–12 months. Travel for training may be required.

Qualifications

• At least 3 National 5 grades A–C including Maths and English.
• Commitment to up to 3 years of training and education.
• Must be able to drive and obtain a licence within 6–12 months.
• Willingness to relocate/travel for training if required.

Responsibilities

• Responding to reported gas emergencies.
• Installation and replacement of gas meters.
• Installing, testing and commissioning internal gas pipework.
• Promoting health and safety in gas service/repair activities.
