Job summary

Randburg, Gauteng-based precision engineering apprenticeship for Trainee CNC Machinists. You will receive comprehensive instruction on setting up machines, reading blueprints, G-code and M-code, operating CNC lathes and milling machines, and quality control.

Mentorship from experienced machinists, training toward a recognized CNC machining qualification, with emphasis on safety and accuracy. The role includes assisting in setup, interpreting drawings, inputting basic programming, pre-machining

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in manufacturing and technology.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to precision.
• Good mathematical skills, geometry and trigonometry.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent; technical subjects or engineering studies advantageous.
• Willingness to learn complex machinery operation and programming.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a production team.
• Good communication skills; must reside in Randburg area or be willing to commute.

Responsibilities

• Assist senior machinists in the setup and operation of CNC milling machines and lathes.
• Learn to interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
• Understand and input basic CNC programming (G-code and M-code).
• Perform pre-machining checks and ensure correct tooling and fixtures are used.
• Operate CNC machines to produce components according to specifications.
• Monitor the machining process, making adjustments as necessary to maintain tolerances.
• Perform quality inspections on finished parts using precision measuring instruments.
• Maintain machines and work areas, ensuring cleanliness and order.
• Participate actively in all aspects of the apprenticeship training program.
• Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and company procedures.
