Job summary

Accountsability in Sheffield offers an Assistant Accountant Level 3 apprenticeship. The role combines hands-on work with study, 37.5 hours weekly, Monday to Friday, with 4 days in the office and one study day at First Intuition East and North Limited.

You will learn to prepare bank summaries, purchase and sales day books, accounts, and VAT returns while progressing toward your AAT qualification with training time away for specialist courses.

Job description

Summary

The apprenticeship will involve 4 days in the office learning with 1 day studying at First Intuition. The successful candidate will learn the processes involved in putting together accounts, VAT returns, tax returns and other jobs that accountants have to undertake.

£15,600 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

  • Assist with the investigation of, and response to, financial information queries.
  • Record and analyse financial data using the organisation's standard tools and processes.
  • Apply double entry bookkeeping and accounting standards to process financial documents, generate financial statements, and report financial information to users of accounts.
  • Assist with production of accurate financial information for the preparation of accounts.
  • Reconcile financial data, such as preparation of reconciliations or review of reconciliations.
  • Investigate, resolve, or escalating transactional queries and errors within their remit as appropriate.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders.
  • Communicate financial information in a way that non-finance stakeholders can interpret and understand.
  • Utilise digital skills to present key financial information using finance and accounting software and applications.
  • Use software packages to assist with basic accounting tasks in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.
  • Communicate using a range of approaches and media, with an understanding of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.

Training schedule

Assistant Accountant Level 3.

The job will allow the candidate to progress and build their knowledge alongside day release studying. We increase the complexity of the work undertaken as the candidate progresses and aim for them to undertake work relevant to their studies to help their understanding of the unit they are studying.

The study will be completed in the classroom or online and will result in the candidate becoming AAT qualified.

Requirements
Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 4 or above)
  • Maths (grade 4 or above)
