Job summary

Bachy Soletanche Limited is seeking a qualified individual to oversee lifting operations with responsibility for planning, risk assessment and compliance. You will supervise site activities, liaise with clients and internal teams, and mentor junior staff to ensure safe, efficient execution on site.

The role requires an Appointed Person CPCS qualification, strong knowledge of lifting equipment, and a proactive approach to health and safety within a nuclear-industry context.

Qualifications

• Appointed Person CPCS Blue Card is essential.
• Extensive lifting knowledge with crawler crane/piling equipment.
• CSCS Card required.
• Clear customer focus and strong communication.
• Knowledge of health and safety management.
• Team player, flexible and able to manage conflict.
• Strong MS Office skills and familiarity with supplier software.
• Desirable: crane experience (Liebherr, Kobelco, Sennebogen, Bauer, Casagrande).
• Desirable: previous management experience in similar sector.
• Desirable: security clearance or ability to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Carry out site surveys, reports and write Lift Plans.
• Ensure correct selection and usage of lifting equipment and accessories.
• Carry out / assist and supervise site installations and dismantles.
• Oversee lifting operations in line with LOLER 1998 and BS 7121 guidance.
• Plan and supervise operations as Appointed Person and brief team clearly.
• Prepare lift plans with risk assessments, method statements, and equipment selection.
• Maintain lifting equipment and accessory registers; ensure thorough examinations are up to date.
• Coordinate inspections and liaise with clients and design/safety teams.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and mentor junior personnel.
