Job summary

J.P. Morgan in Glasgow is seeking an Applied ML and Generative Lead to design, build and run production-grade ML and GenAI services, while setting scalable technical direction and ensuring security, stability, and operational rigor.

You will code close with AI teams, mentor engineers, define standards, and drive enterprise adoption of AI engineering practices across multiple workstreams.

Qualifications

• Proven delivery of LLM-enabled applications using agentic patterns with tool use and guardrails.
• Hands-on experience operating production AI/ML systems in secure environments.
• Expert Python engineering for production-grade design, testing, and optimization.
• Advanced prompt engineering including schema-constrained outputs (JSON).
• Experience building conversational AI with RAG, Agentic, and Graph RAG techniques.
• Knowledge of distributed training/serving and GPU acceleration.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on technical leadership by designing, building, and deploying ML/LLM/GenAI solutions from concept to production.
• Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, ML engineers, and stakeholders to prioritize use cases.
• Develop secure, testable services and libraries that integrate LLMs, tools, RAG, and agentic workflows.
• Build end-to-end pipelines with chunking, retrieval tuning, re-ranking, grounding checks.
• Implement optimization to fine-tune models for NLP use cases with high-quality outputs.
• Mentor junior engineers through design reviews, code reviews, pairing and coaching.
• Implement real-time monitoring for AI solution reliability and compliance.
• Communicate AI capabilities and results to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Stay current with AI trends and apply cutting-edge techniques and external APIs.
