Job summary

Bactobio Ltd in London is hiring a Bioinformatics Applied AI Engineer to design AI-powered workflows for bioinformatics and metabolomic chemistry. You’ll build end-to-end LLM-driven pipelines, collaborate with wet-lab scientists, and ship production-grade code that advances our antimicrobial discovery platform.

The role combines AI and biology, with languages in Python and a strong emphasis on solver quality, traceable reasoning, and real-world experiments.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in a quantitative field with a strong ML/AI component.
• Strong understanding of LLMs, tool use and evaluation.
• Experience with knowledge graphs and multimodal data.
• Proficiency in Python and modern ML/data science tooling.

Responsibilities

• Design and build multi-step LLM workflows that query biological data and knowledge graphs with traceable reasoning.
• Collaborate with wet-lab scientists to turn decisions into well-specified tasks with clear success criteria.
• Build benchmarking infrastructure and curate evaluation datasets.
• Keep up with frontier model capabilities and iterate on prompts, tools, and orchestration.
• Contribute to software platform, data architectures, pipelines and deployment.
